Xstrata Mount Isa Mining Expo

The Mount Isa Chamber of Commerce’s Xstrata Mount Isa Mining Expo was created seventeen years ago to highlight and showcase the wealth and quality of the mining industry throughout the Carpentaria Minerals Province. Since then, the event has significantly prospered and is now hailed as the largest eastern annual Mining Expo in Australia. Held annually, the event attracts both national and international exhibitors to the city. This year, the event will begin with the Mining the Carpentaria conference on 14 May, event set up on 15 May and the exhibition will be held from 16 -18 May.

The primary purpose of the Xstrata Mount Isa Mining Expo is to offer exhibitors the opportunity to showcase their product to key target audiences consisting of Managers, Purchasing Officers, Suppliers, Business owners and end users within the mining industry. In addition, the Mount Isa Chamber of Commerce has identified an opportunity to further network industry personnel during these three days and have since developed unique and entertaining networking events that provide exhibitors with the opportunity to further business leads in a informal environment.

The Xstrata Mount Isa Mining Expo also prides itself on the quality of the ‘Meet the Buyer’ Sessions that give exhibitors twenty minutes to promote their products and services to senior purchasing officers. Nearly 30 Purchasing Officers from Xstrata Copper, Xstrata Zinc, BHP Billiton and Oz Minerals contributed to almost 300 Meet the Buyer sessions over two days of the exhibition in 2010, giving interested exhibitors a number of opportunities to promote their organisation and wares.
